Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support

With This year I have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as the charity for our fundraising.

 I believe that while cancer research is vitally important It is also the care for those going through the trauma of cancer that needs funding.

I plan to run several small competitions throughout the year on our Golf days with prizes, so whilst we are donating to the charity we can also win! There will be the usual; blackout cards, captains’ charity hole and collecting tins on the tables at dinner for your loose change (paper or coins all gratefully received!).

I will also do a Majors competition for each of the four events.

At each golf day I will plan a small competition where a £1.00 entry fee will go straight to the charity, and I will fund a prize.

 

Macmillan Cancer Support Values

Together, we do whatever it takes for people living with cancer. Our Macmillan values help us to do just that. They are how we make sure every action, every decision, every piece of marketing or word we say helps us to do whatever it takes to help people with cancer live as fully as they can.

We have big hearts at Macmillan, but this doesn’t make us soft. We want Macmillan to be a place where everyone can be their true self and feel that their voice is valued; never ignored or undermined.

We take the time to really listen and commit to an open and honest response, even when the answer isn’t what the other person wants to hear. We’ll always speak the truth, not with arrogance or cruelty, but with compassion and mutual respect.

With ambition

We are experts. We are innovators. We strive to be better.

We still share Douglas Macmillan’s ambition to ‘stand for betterness’.

We develop our knowledge and skills, learning from the diverse perspectives, ideas and experience of others. Progress relies on change, and we’re bold enough to try new approaches, because calculated risks can lead to great things.   

Success is celebrated and if we fail, we learn from it and try again. We take pride in what we do and are committed to doing it as best we can.
