Kedleston Park. The course was in fantastic condition for

A A good
turnout of 32 BUNGS members at a another new venue Great
Barr Golf Club, were blessed with a fine sunny day at a
course very few members had played or even knew existed.
Initial problems with buggies for the morning nine holes was sorted when David Grubb kindly gave his up for an electric trolley. The first hole a par 5 was a temporary green only 300 yards but we all played it as a par 5 so we could feel good with possible birdie opportunity.
The morning nine holes was closely contested but with a score of 40 points, Mike Fox, Chris Perry , Mark Johnson and Henry Hau were the winners
The bacon sandwiches had been delicious but the soup and sandwiches at lunchtime were even better.
With a full fleet of buggies available for the afternoon, sun lotion had to be applied before we recommenced. There was some interesting groups but with John Shaw and Kevin Morris together, one felt sorry for Steve Gibbons who had to witness the contest and try and score himself.
Yet again the plaudits go to Mark Johnson who scored a hole in one on the second hole in the afternoon. A perfect iron shot landed just over the bunker and rolled into the hole. Unfortunately Mark didn't see the end result due to the height of the front bunker but he was confident it would be close!
The whole golf course was in great condition and the greens were superlative to putt on. The scoring was high and very close.
In 5th place was Peter Meaney on 35 points after countback off a handicap of 6.5. In 4th place was Karl Hughes on 37 points off a handicap of 6.0 In third place was Owen Strudwick also with 37 points off a handicap of 8.1. Runner up was Henry Hau with 38 points off a handicap of 26.2, and the winner was John Shaw with 40 points off a handicap of 2.5.
Congratulations to John, his retirement is doing him good, and another shot disappears John, for next month at Kedleston Park !
Kevin Morris with 35 points won the 1-18 prize. Graham Thorpe with 35 points won the 19-28 prize. (Kevin said I had to mention these awards.!)

arrived at Brocton Golf Club on a red hot day to find a golf
course in fantastic condition and a wonderful layout meant a
good day was ahead.
The weather stayed hot for both the morning and afternoon rounds of this year’s eclectic and scoring was pretty good.
40 points was only good enough for fourth place which was taken by Karl Hughes playing off 6 handicap. One point further ahead in third and second were Craig Vale (13) and Phil Latham (14) respectively. It was a better back nine for Phil that pipped Craig into second.
The winner on 42 was Darren Penny who only came along to BUNGS for the first time as a guest on the Dumfries tour. He enjoyed it that much be joined straight away and no doubt will enjoy it even more now after taking victory in his maiden BUNGS event, scoring 42 off his 17 handicap. Well played Darren.

35 players made
ther way to Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on a bright and sunny
day for the first BUNGS event in excess of 18 holes for over
a year, the 2021 BUNGS Championship and BUNGS Masters.
It was great to see somany people there with people 'catching up' after such a long time apart. We were greeted with a superb golf course in fantastic condition and the greens were frighteningly fast, a real treat but a test for everyone.
The morning money was won by Wayne Tandy, Kev Armitt and Steve Gibbons with 40 points over 10 holes. The morning score also counted for the BUNGS Masters competition and leading the way after the morning ten holes were Kev Armitt (22 points), Kev Morris (20 points) and Ian Ronson (18 points).
After lunch it was back onto the course for the main competition and the weather remained great, warm and sunny with just a hint of breeze. There were four players scoring 33 points, with Wayne Tandy and Peter Meaney missing out on the top five due to countback. Fifth went to Steve Gross playing off 22 and Steve Dewey's 19 points on the back nine meant his 33 points was enough for fourth playing off 15. One point ahead, playing off 7 was Karl Hughes who scored 16 on the front nine and 18 on the back nine for his 34 point total and third place. Also on 34 points was Mark Johnson whopipped Karl into second place with his better back nine of 19 points, playing off 11. The winner, just one ahead of Karl and Mark was forthcoming tour Captain, John Shaw. Playing off 3, John scored 18 on the front nine and 17 on the back nine for 35 points and the BUNGS Championship title. Well played John.
Onto the BUNGS Masters and Kev Morris only managed 30 points in the afternoon to finish in third on 50 points, Karl Hughes scored a great 34 points in the afternoon to finish in second on 51 points and the winner, retaining his trophy, was Kev Armitt scoring 22 in the morning and 30 in the afternoon for 52 points - well done Kev. Full BUNGS Masters scores can be seen here.

After the
frustration of events being cancelled or moved on into 2022,
we at last congregated on a golf course for the opening
event of the 2021 Season.
This was a rearranged event for the Bungs Memorial Salver staged at Lichfield Golf & Country Club and 19 members assembled to knock the rust and cob webs off our clubs and meet with old friends on a cold but dry afternoon.
For some time there were several members who returned a creditable score of 30 points, with Kevin Morris leading with the best back nine he contemplated being cut to scratch if he won this event.
However rumours from the course surfaced with news Bobby Ho had 32 points!
Then the last two 4 balls came in with the winning scores and took the prize of nearest the pin in 2 on the 18th hole. (Howard Holliday.)
Bobby Ho finished in third place on his 32 points from a handicap of 13.
In second place sporting his new hair style was Adrian Marchant with 33 points also off a handicap of 13.
The winner who blew the rest of us away was Gary Tyler with a whopping 41 points off a handicap of 15. Well done Gary, a good start to the season.
