The course at North Shore, which was modelled by James Braid, is overlooked by the hotel. Braid is regarded as a world wide course creator and was at the forefront of course architects in the early 1900s. His challenge was to transform a unique blend of exposed coastline and lush parkland into a course that would challenge every club in the bag. Like all good links designers, Braid made use of the strong easterly wind which can cause even the best players a headache. The wind hits your drive on 5, 10, and 15 from the right and on the 13 and 17 head on. With a strong wind behind you on 11 and 14 it makes club selection a nightmare -but it’s true golf in every sense. Braid has given many a golfer a lot to shout and laugh about when reaching the club bar.

Originally founded in 1895, Seacroft is one of the very best seaside links on the East coast. “It is one of those courses that runs, roughly speaking, straight out and home,” wrote Bernard Darwin in The Golf Courses of the British Isles. “And the nine holes that we play with the wind in our face we think really beautiful, while with the wind behind us we are just a little disappointed... it must often happen that the wind is neither for us nor against us, but blows straight across the course. Then the golf must be really difficult, for the fairway is uniformly narrow and the rough wonderfully tenacious.” Seacroft is known as a hidden gem among the top courses of Great Britain and Ireland. It is a traditional links course tucked away on the Lincolnshire coast at the south end of Skegness. Because of its situation on the coast and its fast draining soil the full course with normal tees and greens is virtually certain to be open.

Please Note

As links courses, even though North Shore and Seacroft are well drained and frost tends not to hit the coast so there shouldn't be any temporsry green issues, snow would inevitably close the courses. In the unlikely event of this happening, you must all be aware that you may well lose your deposits. The hotel are unlikely to accept a cancellation at very short notice, so the choice would be to either travel to the hotel for a non-golfing get-together or stay at home but still pay for the hotel.
