Raising money for Leukaemia UK

This year’s Captain’s Charity will be raising money for Leukaemia UK.

My partner’s father, Alex Rushworth, was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia (AML) in September 2020. An avid sports fan, fantatical badminton player and keen cyclist; he kept himself well and truly active into his late 70’s. He was a top bloke…for a Man Utd fan!

Alex’s diagnosis, came as a huge shock to our family, and his subsequent treatment path, in some respects was, mercifully short but no less devastating for us all. Alex passed away early January 2021 surrounded by our family.  

AML is a disease, which more often than not, affects men aged over 65, with around 3000 people diagnosed in the UK each year. It is not clear what causes AML and, in most cases, there is no identifiable cause. For this reason, Leukaemia UK is conducting significant research into the disease and is grateful for any charitable donations to assist with their critical work.  www.leukaemiauk.org.uk.

I look forward to seeing you all at our various BUNGS golf days throughout 2024, to play competitive golf, on challenging courses, with new friends and old, to raise money for this amazing charity.
